Watch Out Hyde Parkers – 18,000 Properties were Unfairly Assessed in Jackson County
Recent news in the Star and on KSHB news outlets indicate that Jackson county will review about 18,000 real estate valuations that seem questionable. Certain areas of town, including Hyde Park, will be part of the review. The county has been receiving numerous phone calls and written appeals from taxpayers who feel their property value unfairly increased in the 2013 assessment that was just released and mailed to homeowners. If you feel your property was unfairly assessed, visit the county’s website for instructions on how to formally appeal the valuation.
This is interesting. I’m so going to appeal. Our valuation went up (i think) $40,000, which doesn’t seem quite right to me. And, we just got a notice in the mail today that they were going to re-evaluate our home within the next four weeks.
