Friday Links – A New Home Development in Prairie Village, A Brookside Shop Closes
Brookside Shop Season + Square Closing
The gourmet lifestyle shop in Brookside, Season + Square, is closing this week. The owners, who also own and operate the restaurant, Plate, located next door to Season + Square, have decided to use the space to increase the size of the dining room at Plate. I will miss this little shop; it was my go-to place for gift giving and special treats.
Meadowbrook Park: A New Luxury Home Development in Prairie Village
Have you noticed the construction on the 136-acre site of the former Meadowbrook Country Club in Prairie Village? The new, high-end development is called Meadowbrook Park, and I think the site plan looks very well designed. Meadowbrook Park includes: an 84 acre public park with centrally located lakes, trails, maintenance provided single-family homes and villas, apartments, an inn, a restaurant, and a senior living complex. The developers are using four classic architectural styles in the development: Classical Revival, English, French and Prairie styles.
2017 Real Estate Predictions
In this year-end report, the National Association of Realtors expects home sales to expand modestly in 2017.
A Celebrity’s California Midcentury Home
A House to Remember: Mandy Moore Buys in Pasadena
This movie star linkbait about Mandy Moore’s new house caught my eye this week. It is always fun to see a slideshow of a cool, mid-century home.
I’m very intrigued by the Meadowbrook Park development. We were contemplating a move to Denver last fall, and I was looking at a neighborhood there that was made up entirely of new builds in classic architectural styles. I loved the concept and so wished we had something like that here in KC. I think there are so many of us who long for a home with classic details but don’t necessarily want the maintenance issues that come with an older home. I imagine the Meadowbrook Park homes will come with a large price tag that will still keep many of us from realizing that dream, but it’s a start!
