Dolce Bakery in Prairie Village is Yummy
A week ago I threw a baby shower, and place of cake, I purchased cupcakes from Dolce Baking Company in Prairie Village. I know, I should make them myself but I can’t! I have tried and failed on many occasions – my cupcakes are ugly, don’t rise, and don’t taste particularly good.
I ordered a couple days in advance telling them to make them cute for the baby theme, and I was so happy with what they created. Seriously, there was this really embarrassing thrill when I opened the box and saw those pretty little sparkly pink and blue cupcakes. Silly me forgot to take a photo, but I should have because they were totally adorable little cupcake-works-of-art. But most importantly, when my guests were eating them, several said they were the best cupcakes they had ever tasted. They were not only cute, but delicious.
Dolce sells more than just cupcakes – pastries, cakes, cookies. Everything baked, gooey and delicious. It’s a cozy place where you can hang out and eat your treat, then hit the Prairie Village shops and buy some new (larger) pants (to make room for your new pastry habit). But call ahead a couple days for special stuff like pink polka-dotted baby shower cupcakes.
i like mclain’s bakery in waldo (74th and wornall) for cupcakes, cookies, cakes and pastries.
This weekend my grandson and I had an oatmeal cookie before being seated for a performance at the Missouri Rep. I enjoyed the cookie so much, I must confess during intermission I had my grandson purchase another for me. I inquired after the peformance who provided the cookies and I was told Dolce Bakery. It is so hard to find a well made oatmeal cookie; I need not look any further.
It’s my favorite bakery. I love their cinnamon roles and cakes!
