My Pick of the Week – A Vintage Stunner in Brookside
This is such a neat home. I know it isn’t for everyone because it is a far cry from new and modern, but I love it for what it is. It is solid as a rock, it has all brick construction with stone detail, and it has been beautifully and lovingly maintained throughout the years. It was built in 1936 and most everything is original, but it doesn’t look worn. It must be a combination of conscientious owners and a good builder. It has pink potties as I call them, and the neatest vintage kitchen with white steel cabinetry and incredible Belgian glass tile on the walls and, strangely enough, the ceiling too. There are three bedrooms upstairs and a fourth bedroom (or study) downstairs. There are plenty of bathrooms, lots of living space, a private driveway with a two car garage, etc. This property, located at 6818 Locust, is listed with my colleague Suellen Dice of Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Kansas City, at a current list price of $362,500.
The kitchen with the glass tile and steel cabinets:
What a neat detail – an arched front door:
And of course, the pink Bathrooms!
And the brick and stone facade:
Darling! And pink potties to boot…I can see why you love it.
Yes, you know me well. It’s a big house and a nice floorplan too. You should move back!
That kitchen is not original. Price is way too high. Homeowners are insane if Ry ink hey will get that so Far East. will have to come down to $220k
As far as I know the kitchen actually is original except for maybe the countertops and updated appliances. The cabinetry and tile is certainly original. Let me know if you have more info, though. I’d love to know if you have insider info. Price could be an issue otherwise it might have sold already – this Spring market is moving fast!
Sara, A reliable source told me that the kitchen is original. The original owners of the home had it custom built to be a kosher kitchen. The metal cabinetry and glass walls and ceiling made cleaning easier for the kosher rules. Very interesting!
