Moving to Kansas City? How to Choose a Neighborhood

Moving to Kansas City? Not sure where to land within the sprawling metropolis?

Here are some factors to consider before choosing a neighborhood:

  1. Walkability (i.e. sidewalks, places nearby)
  2. Age and price of homes
  3. Nearby amenities
  4. City services such as schools, trash/recycling/yard waste, taxes, libraries, condition of infrastructure
  5. Proximity to areas of interest such as downtown, parks, stadiums, or highways, etc.
  6. Culture
  7. Space requirements for your lifestyle, hobbies, and/or pets
  8. Consider whether you do or don’t want to be in a neighborhood association
  9. Commute time
  10. Kid-friendly

When moving to a new city, you first really have to consider what’s important to you and your family. Your favorite neighborhood may not actually be a good match for you. By really thinking about the factors above and talking with an experienced real estate agent or a knowledgeable local, the decision will become clear. I enjoy helping people learn about Kansas City and all of its different communities; there is a place for everyone. I personally live in Brookside which is an older neighborhood in Kansas City, Missouri, but I have helped buyers and sellers all over the vast metro area.
