Local News That Could Affect Real Estate

There will be a vote tomorrow by the Missouri State Board of Education on whether to grant the Kansas City public school district provisional accreditation or leave it unaccredited. I do like to follow school district news, as it can have an affect on where people choose to live. STORY

On the topic of school districts, the Kansas City Business Journal has released a list of the top performing districts in the area. I was surprised by a couple of these. STORY

There is another new senior housing project planned for Brookside. Adding competition to Rockhill Greens, a new developer has purchased one of the old medical buildings along Troost adjacent to Research Medical Center’s Brookside Campus and plans to turn it into senior housing. They are slated to begin construction next year. I think both of these developments will fill a need and be good for the area. Anytime we can replace blighted, unused buildings with new viable businesses or housing, the area’s aestetics and values should benefit. STORY
