Design Inspiration: Front Door & Shutter Colors
Every couple of years, when the shutters fade in the sunlight and assume an unpleasant hue, I begin to pester Mister Snodgrass about updating our shutters and front door. We have white siding, limestone accents, and white trim. Our shutters and front door are currently painted in a bright teal color. Is it time for a more neutral color palette? Do you love the teal just the way it is? Shall we switch to a different bold color? Something about the white shutters on the white siding is really pulling me in, but will it look odd without a contrast? Please leave a comment; I would love to hear your thoughts.
I love your current color palette! But I can understand wanting a change too. I tend to lean towards more of a contrast. I love driving through a neighborhood and seeing an unexpected pop of color on someone’s front door or shutters. Since your house is white, you have so many options. I love that yellow pictured above too. I once saw this “kellyish” green on a front door and it was surprisingly lovely.
Thanks for the share. I am currently going through the same problem trying to find a new color for my plantation shutters. Currently my house is white with black shutters (I know very generic) but I am thinking about switching them to a bright red. What do you think?
