Cool Retro Home Decorating Trend Returns – The Hanging Staghorn Fern
I have always admired Staghorn Ferns, and since they share a likeness to antlers and can grow in the air, people have begun mounting them to boards and hanging them on the wall. It is a sort of faux-tedermy trend which first became popular in the 1970’s. Plants always make a great addition to any room, and this quirky, modern presentation will surely please the creative home designer in all of us. (Image Source: one, two, three)
awesome- I have never seen this before!
My staghorn weighs over 100 pounds. No way I’m hanging it on the wall! It currently lives hanging by chains from a tree in my back yard! I do have a baby I could bring in, but they’re just so happy outside…
PJ, where do you live? Are you in the Kansas City area? Does your staghorn live outside all year? I would love to see a photo of your 100 pound fern – send it to me and I will post it!
