At Home in Brookside Visits The Berry Patch Blueberry Farm in Kansas City

Visiting local u-pick operations is a great way to spend a day communing with nature while supporting local famers and doing something productive. On my recent visit to the Berry Patch located just south of the city at about 223rd and State Line Road, I picked about five pounds of delicious locally-grown blueberries to freeze for winter. If you know anything about me, you’ll know that I love spending time playing in the dirt so this was a pretty fun day for me. I took my friend, Jennifer Wetzel (a Kansas City based photographer) and her darling daughter. Do you have a favorite farm to visit, volunteer, or pick your own produce in the Kansas City area? If so, please comment below; I would love your suggestions. blueberry1
