Queen Anne Victorian Architecture

The Queen Anne style of Victorian Architecture was a popular style in America (and Kansas City) from about 1890-1910. This particular home was built in 1890, and is located in Dutch Hill / Longfellow neighborhood of Kansas City.

Queen Anne Victorian homes had features such as asymmetrical facades, towers, verandas, fancy shingles, steeply pitched roofs, front porches, bay windows, pedimented gables, etc. As you can see, this home has many of these features – the most distinguishable is the front tower or turret. Many of the Victorians you will see are clad in wood shingles, but this one has a beautiful brick exterior. Most of the interior has been updated and modified through the years, but the exterior remains a beautiful historic specimen. It has such a storybook quality to it.
