Wraparound Porches and Historic Neighborhoods

Lately all I can think about is a big, beautiful turn of the century house with high ceilings and a wraparound porch. And wouldn’t it be so charming to live in a quaint historic downtown area of one of our nearby villages such as Parkville or Smithville? I don’t think I would leave KC, but one can daydream.

Check out these two beauties. First, a Victorian house currently operating as the Porch Swing Inn Bed and Breakfast in the historic neighborhood of downtown Parkville, Missouri. It is for sale for $329,000. Second, and not for sale, is a gorgeous old home located in downtown Smithville, Missouri. This one is definitely my favorite of the two. I like that it is more of a simple design – perhaps even a bit influenced by the American farmhouse or colonial style. Sometimes true Victorians can seem a little fussy for my taste. I also love the classic black and white color scheme – so chic.
