Creative Color for the Kitchen, a Brookside Neighborhood Video, and a Native Plant Sale

A Beautiful Mess Blog Shares How they Applied Custom Color to a Refrigerator and Range

I love learning something new involving color in the home. Elsie from the design blog, A Beautiful Mess, hired a local vinyl shop to color her modern refrigerator and range (you know, like a local vinyl sign shop). It is true that there are already new/throwback turquoise refrigerators out there, but they all have a full-on retro design. I love the mix of the modern appliances in bold, retro colors.

The Go Native Event and Native Plant Sale Will be Held this Saturday at the MDC Discovery Center

On Saturday, April 15, 2017, the Missouri Department of Conservation is hosting an event called “Go Native” at the Anita B. Gorman Discovery Center (4750 Troost, KCMO). From 9:30 – 2:30, organizers will host a native plant sale, and will be giving away native tree, flowering plant, grass, and *milkweed seedlings. There will be fun, hands-on activities for the whole family, so bring the kiddos. Attendees are invited to learn how to use native plants in their residential landscape, pot a native plant, and take a landscape tour with a native plant expert. This event is free and open to the public. A percentage of the proceeds from the native plant sales will benefit prairie conservation in Missouri.
*Milkweed is the only home to monarch caterpillars, which means it is very important to the survival of the monarch butterflies. This article by the Audubon Society explains why native plants matter so much to our environment.
