Brookside Architecture Yesterday and Today

As I was standing on Brookside Boulevard recently, I couldn’t help but notice that I was surrounded by two homes that were built nearly a century apart. They stand across the street from each other; see if you can spot them the next time you ride or walk along Brookside Boulevard.

In front of me stood a newly constructed frame house with stone trim, and behind, an early 20th century home built of brick, limestone and stucco. Both are attractive in their own right. The brick and stone with the wrap around side porch is one of my favorite houses in Brookside (I have a few favorites as you an imagine), yet I can appreciate the modern conveniences offered by new construction and I applaud the architect for fitting it in with the style of its surroundings.
